Northern Velocake @ CXNE round 1

It's round 1 CXNE Stockton on Tees the sun is out and I am getting a tan and reminded the important thing is to go fast at the start of a CX race this is not some 4 hour MTB marathon big speed is so important here and I have forgotten this point. Anyhow we drift back in to mid pack mediocrity and enjoy the course which is perfect in my eyes half singletrack (tm) in the trees tight corners lot of bumps and lumps and the rest meandering over park land. Big turn out with people traveling 2+hours to race CX has really grown up in the past few years its a far cry from when  50 people was the norm at a race. Music, inflatable finish things, loads of spectators its got it all apart from the catering mind I had been very spoiled at Chipp's Tod Cross he knows you got to have coffee and food at races, had to resort to Costas for expresso and cake at Scotch Corner. Beer had to wait until Penrith at Bar Moo where the Belgian selection is vast. See you next week in Ponteland

I hope you were top 20, or we may have to renegotiate your contract ;)

I didn't bother for my usual round due to a price hike for non committed racers.
Played in the woods on Monday lunchtime instead.
It would have been a bit weird with a teammate there anyway ;0)

Money up front at the start of the series for pre registration.
Non issue if your racing the series but makes 1 race £20.
