The secret is cake

So the weekend of 24solo came round way too quickly and I still hadn't recovered from having my tonsils out. I didn't want to miss out though so I made the sensible decision to ride the 12hour event. I had plans, I was going to take it easy and eat lots of cake.

As it turns out it was muffins, christmas cake, cookies and belgain waffles. But it worked and I bagged third!

Well done all even for just bothering to turn up. Sounded grim.

Trio - 2nd according to the preliminary results on the website. Woop.

Damn damn damn though. I had Grant in the seepstake for bike malfunction not back malfunction but got the laps right.
Better luck next year!

i knew we could count on you for a result Amy.
Anyone know what happened to Papa Makin?
He did ride didn't he, even he wouldn't play the makin card without riding would he?

Ah, Grant's back broke did it? Bugger.

As for Steve, surely nobody actually expected him to get on a bike did they?

I understand Steve was too busy helping to have time to ride ;0)

my 3% inspiration to ride was washed away after doing a days trail work followed by an evenings registration work at the same time as cooking 300lbs of pasta for the useless caterers, then another days work for Joolze followed through the night and following on till the finish point working in the timing tent

Lee and I and Sara and Paul and dangerous dave and Joolze and another half dozen others were awake for almost 48 hours

it was just as difficult as riding but for different reasons

Gutted for Grant after putting all that effort into training, not at all bothered about my non race as I was only ever going to ride if I was feeling exceptional

Don't forget the hamper, Amy. :-)

As far as excuses go it's not a bad one Steve, but come on, one of these days you should actually try and start/finish something you've entered ;-)

I never entered this one, just pulled a favour ;-)

mind you I did spend £140 on clothing and bike stuff, plus another £45 on food and beer :-/

simondbarnes said...

To be fair, you still owe us that £140 ;-)

You'll have to enter something else to show off the new kit :)

I'm going to finish up a write-up tomorrow and I'm hoping Jamesy will do one too....

Of course, I need to mention it to him first.

It's the best way for him to address the issue of his car keys....

Oh yes Ali won a huge hamper in the raffle so was very happy as she never wins anything but always buys lots of tickets!

There's a dull blog post here:

I'm trying to write something for here but failing. I did try and drop hints to James that something from his perspective may be good, but I think he didn;t pick up on them. :-)
