This time next week.....

.......Velocake will be almost 1/2 way through it's inagural 24 hr race. [1]

Black Spot Brand singlespeeds are the weapon of choice.

Team Rider.

There will be riding. There will be pain. There will be tears. There will be north-of-the-border grumpyness. There will be even more riding. Most important of all though, there will be cake.

GO.

VELOCAKE.

Lovely! What gear are you running?

I'm on a 26" wheeled bike, so 32:16 to start, with a 17T, 18T and maybe a 19T in reserve as the 24 hrs goes on.

I *might* start with 32:17, if the word on the grapevine indicates that it's a good idea.

Don't know what your legs are like but I rode up there at Easter. I could *just* get round one lap on 32:18 (same as your 32:16) so 24hours wouldn't happen. I'm not planning on changing gear in the event though.

Go both of you! and Nick Wallis.

I think the gear of choice will be the one thats on, either that or 34-18 is the real gear of choice.
Does this mean I'll be swapping cogs over at 4 in the morning as well as greasing your chamois?

Aw baws....now I'm fretting about that too!!

Did you ride 'the course' or just 'the trails'?

I've heard young Mike has gone for a 32:18 as not to win by too large a margin!

Although with that cadance he may well need a tub of that arse lard he has been hawking about like a 2 bit Ho'

You're all winners to me.

I love you all, even the big hairy Scottish ones!! And they are ginger, probably.

It'll be 34:18 on the spare bike, if I ever build it.............

And yes, you will be swapping sprockets at 4am. :-)

I've gone for 32:18 with the 20 in reserve. I'm not taking things too seriously though and I don't mind walking a bit (lot).

32:20!!

It'll be quicker to walk.

Come on where's the 'Spirit of the cake'

Redbike - 26 or 29er?

I rode the red, which is meant to basically be the course with an extra bit to go through the start finish. Worried how steep that bit will be though.

A 29er.

Still toying with riding it fixed. Are there many steep downhills?
