Low Mojo.

I'm taking the next month off.  No proper bike rides. No nipping out on the local tracks till the middle of February.
I've not got any enthusiasm to ride.
I'm bored of it.
Can't be bothered anymore.
Maybe I've done too much.  Maybe cross racing till December has left me stale.  Maybe I'm just bored of it all at the mo.
I'm going to have a blow out ride on Wednesday at the VeloCake mudfest then i'm hanging up all the wheels for a few weeks until i'm bored of doing "normal" stuff on my days off.

I'm going to eat chips at lunch time and drink dirty beer all night.
Then I'll emerge phoenix like and be back into riding bikes all spring and summer.

(obviously i'll still be using a bike as transport and riding pretty much everyday, so it's not that much of a lay off.)

Been there, done that, tried various things. I found that giving up one style of riding helped. In my case I gave up MTB for 2 months did wonders for my mojo. Okay, I was then almost immediately hit by a car, but that was a coincidence and definitely not karma.....:-)

It's a seasonal thing..... A January thing. You'll be back soon enough. :-)

Does that mean I need a new cycling buddy?

That sounds just like my December.

The bike sat in a corner unloved and I stuffed my face in the name of Christmas

A lay off may be good for your soul and will be a good way to recharge those batteries.

If you do find youself at a loose end, why not do what others have done and collect kittens in cups!

Beats chicken in a basket or even a dog in a gravy boat.

Al,here to help.

Alan, that almost sounded sincere.
I never knew you cared.

Quite a few people, incl me, are stuck in a SAD related rut.

Maybe we just need things to aim for and look forward to...

Well Mikey, I'm one of lifes givers!

I give everyone I meet the idea that jumping from a tall building is a tempting thought.

Must admit, been thinking of doing that since I met you back in November Al. Just need to overcome my fear of heights :)

Oh and as for low mojo, I know all about that. Really couldn't give a fuck about bikes right now to be honest and have been pretty much the same since about May. Am trying to force myself to do a bit of commuting, as for mtbing, no thanks, it's shit out there. Thought 'cross racing would get me going again, unfortunately not. I can't even be arsed to go to the liverpool supercross race on Sunday. Bah.

Simon, would it help if i gave you a blind fold and helping hand up this tall building?

Simon said...

Yes, I think it would Al :)

In mojo-seeking-related news, the spousal unit has unexpectedly given approval for Bike-2-Work 2010.

So, as new toy = increased inclination and mojo finding, I'll be sorted out. Its a shame it won't happen until about May. Ah well. :-)

I need to sell stuff ahead of time too, partly to make space, partly to appease SWMBO.....

grant, do you have the spouse P9000 unit? i'd imagine it's much better than the old R8001 model.

whatcha gonna get and whatcha getting rid off?

Simon said...

He should get a Carrera Kraken

VeloCake said...

is that a spouse unit or bike simon?

grant said...

I had a Carerra Kraken back in the 1990's.

I'm going to get a Genesis Day One CX.

I need rid of a medium (17.5") GF Rig frame and some Reba 29's.

My Spesh Tarmac rocks. Much nicer than the Madone that was my other option for a cheap string and glue road bike :)

ooooh the day one is a lovely shade of orange, just swap the brakes for some TRPs.
Simon, don't listen to Alan, he's trying to get a rise of everyone.

a carrera kraken though.....

On the bright side though, there's a thing on Facebook called Bike City which appear to be a reasonable substitute for the now-defunct Cyclogs.

(Thanks to Nicky for the heads up....)

VeloCake said...

oh cyclogs i miss you so...(maybe thats why i can't be bothered anymore, whats the point if you can't log miles onto an internet based milage chart.
do you have to go on facebook to get to bikecity,is there nothing else with a proper website?

Simon said...

Mike, a lot of Cyclogs people have moved here...

http://www.mycyclinglog.com/

I probably would too if I could be arsed to ride.
